In the Winter the water on the lake takes on different forms and qualities in sun, light, ice and snow
In the morning before the heat of the sun has burnt off the fog in the valley, a blanket lies across the low ground obscuring the view of the Kitzsteinhorn. Taken from the Panorama Bar at the top of the Bereitecbahn on Mountain Schmittenhoehe.
After an evening of heavy snowfall the temperature on the KItzsteinhorn plunged to -15C. From 3000m looking back across the Kaprun valley the Lake Zell am See lies majestically at the foot of the Schmittenhoehe ski resort.
With fresh power snow beneath the Sun beams from across the Patzier glacier illuminating the peak of the Kitzsteinhorn at 3029m – the “top of Salzburg”
The lake is still and the air temperature -5C, capturing the profile of Thummersbach in the lake reflection.
